Your Journey
8 Days Schedule1. Guest meeting
Our guide will meet you at your accommodation in Dushanbe, after which you will set off on your journey to Lake Iskanderkul. The journey takes approximately 3 hours (134 km) one way.
2. Journey to Iskanderkul Lake
The route will take you through the Varzob Gorge, where you'll see turbulent rivers, mountain serpentines, photogenic landscapes, and majestic peaks. Along the way, you'll pass through a 5-kilometer tunnel. Before entering, we'll make a stop so you can breathe in the fresh mountain air and capture the natural beauty on your phone. Before you know it, you'll find yourself right at the lake.
3. Fan Niagara Falls
This waterfall is located near the famous Iskandarkul Lake and is its natural extension. The water thunders down from a height of about 40 meters, creating a powerful stream whose roar can be heard hundreds of meters away. Rainbows often appear here on sunny days, and the spray of water is refreshing even on the hottest day.
4. Snake Lake
Next on our tour, we'll head to the mysterious Snake Lake—a small but very atmospheric mountain lake, hidden among the rocks and pine slopes near Iskandarkul. The lake got its name from local legends: it's believed that snakes were once often seen here, especially during the warmer months. Today, they're practically invisible, but the name and mystical atmosphere remain.
5. Free time
During this time, you can have lunch in one of the camping areas near the lake and enjoy the peace and beauty of the surrounding nature.
6. Five streams
After relaxing by the lake, we'll take an excursion to the Panch Chashma springs—one of the most picturesque and unusual natural sites in the region. Here, several crystal-clear springs emerge from the cliff face, forming small cascades and streams flowing down the rocks.
7. Cave of Bucephalus
This mysterious natural site is shrouded in legend and history. Legend has it that Alexander the Great stayed here, and the cave was named after his legendary horse, Bucephalus. Despite its mythological overtones, the place truly impresses with its natural power and atmosphere. The cave is nestled among rocks and mountainous terrain, and the journey itself becomes part of the adventure. It's cool, quiet, and has a special energy that's difficult to describe—it must be experienced firsthand.
8. End of the excursion
After visiting the cave, our tour of Lake Iskanderkul comes to an end. We'll head back to Dushanbe and drop you off at your accommodation. This concludes our meeting—thank you for the journey, and we look forward to seeing you again!
